By subscribing to the band's Twitter messages, you can receive these instant updates in several different ways. Twitter messages (they call them Tweets) can be read on your computer's web browser, on smart phones (such as the iPhone among others) and on any mobile phone capable of receiving text messages. We are also posting the latest ERHS band Twitter messages on the home page of the band's web site.
To view the band's Twitter messages, simply click on the Twitter graphic on this page or visit www.twitter.com/eastriverband.
To receive the band's Twitter updates instantly on your mobile phone as text messages, take the steps below. But before you do, be aware that although Twitter doesn't charge anything for this, standard text messaging rates may apply from your phone carrier. Check with your mobile phone carrier if you are not sure what kind of text messaging plan you may have.
Here's how to set up your mobile phone to receive band Twitter updates as text messages:
- First, visit www.twitter.com and set up a free account.
- Next, follow these directions on how to add your phone to your Twitter account. (Note that the instructions ask you to send a text to your "Twitter code". The Twitter code for everyone in the US is 40404.)
- Finally, follow these directions to turn on notifications to get Twitter messages (Tweets) from the band on your phone. Where the instructions mention a username, note that the username for the band is eastriverband.
That's it! Band updates posted to Twitter will now be text messaged to you automatically.
